Cruising 4 Comps

WELCOME ABOARD CRUISING 4 COMPS

I built this life
one voyage at a time.

I’m Scott Astin. I write about the ships I call home, the people who make them remarkable, the games I have studied, and the places that still stop me in my tracks. This is where those journeys finally sail together.

Choose the part of the voyage that sounds like you.

You may be here to organize an offer, learn a game, read a story, see the world, or turn up the music. Every entrance leads to a complete part of my life at sea.

WHY I BUILT CRUISING 4 COMPS

The ocean kept calling. I finally answered for good.

My first cruise was aboard the SS Oceanic in 1976. I could not have known then that ships would eventually become more than a vacation. They became my address, my office, my front porch, and the setting for the most interesting chapter of my life.

Years in technology taught me to organize complicated information. Years in music taught me that every memorable experience needs rhythm and personality. Life at sea gave me the stories. Cruising 4 Comps brings all three together through my books, Easy Seas, Scooter’s lessons, and the photographs I collected around the world.

THE WORLD THROUGH MY CAMERA

Some places refuse to become ordinary.

I have stood beneath the northern lights, walked through ancient cities, watched gardens perform like theater, and arrived at landmarks I once knew only from books. These are not stock photographs. They are pieces of my own journey.

THE PEOPLE WHO MADE THE VOYAGE

A ship is steel. A great voyage is people.

The captains who welcomed me back, the crew members who remembered a favorite drink, the performers who filled a room, and the passengers who became friends are the reason these stories have heart. The Party Deck is where I remember them, share the music connected to those memories, and keep the best photographs together.

FROM MY LIBRARY

The voyage became a shelf of its own.

I wrote the books I wanted when I first began living aboard: practical when the details matter, honest when the water gets rough, and funny whenever the ship gives you no other choice.

THE TOOL I NEEDED ABOARD

Easy Seas turns a pile of offers into a voyage you can understand.

I built Easy Seas because an offer is only useful when you can see what it includes, when it expires, which sailings it opens, what each choice costs, and what you actually confirmed. It is a private workroom for keeping those details together before the fine print gets lost.

A SONG FOR THE SAILAWAY

Every voyage deserves good music.

Scooter’s original house track plays across the site with the same invitation as the first view from the balcony: breathe, look around, and enjoy where you are. Use the mute and volume controls whenever you want, then visit the Party Deck for the songs connected to people, places, and stories throughout the voyage.
