Set the Session Budget

A budget is often described as a restriction, but aboard ship it feels more like an umbrella. It lets you enjoy the walk because you already know what happens when the weather changes. A session budget creates the same kind of shelter.

The lesson in plain English

Choose the amount before entering the room. Separate playing funds from travel, bills, food, and emergency money. Decide whether the budget is a loss limit, a time limit, or both. Keep the boundary visible and stop when it is reached, even if the next result feels emotionally important.
