The lesson in plain English
Label what you saw, what you measured, what someone told you, and what you inferred. Keep dates, amounts, conditions, and photographs when appropriate. A single result can be meaningful to a person without proving a general rule. Let folklore remain colorful, and let evidence do the steering.
Deck note
The best story is the one that tells you which part was known and which part was hope.
